Company Page or Personal Profile? Where LinkedIn Content Actually Performs

Marquee Social Team · August 19, 2026 · 2 min read

Every B2B agency eventually asks the same question: should this content go out from the company page, or from a founder or team member's personal profile? The honest answer, backed by LinkedIn's own platform behavior, is that they are not interchangeable, and treating them as the same channel wastes the stronger one.

Why personal profiles outperform company pages

LinkedIn's distribution algorithm is built around the idea that people trust people more than they trust brands. A post from a personal profile reaches, on average, several times further than the identical post from a company page with a comparable following, because the platform is optimized to surface individual voices in the feed over institutional ones.

This is not a loophole. It is the platform's design, and it has held steady across every algorithm update LinkedIn has shipped.

What each surface is actually good for

Company page:

  • Official announcements: funding, product launches, hires, partnerships.
  • Job postings and culture content aimed at recruiting.
  • Content a prospect will look for specifically when researching the company before a sale.

Personal profiles (founders, leadership, subject-matter experts):

  • Opinion, analysis, and lessons learned, the content that actually earns engagement.
  • Anything meant to build an individual's authority in their space, which compounds over time in a way company content cannot.
  • The content most likely to be shared, because people share other people's takes far more than they share brand posts.

The strategy that works for agencies

Do not choose one. Run both, deliberately:

1. The company page is the system of record. Everything official and searchable lives there, so a prospect who lands on the page sees a credible, active presence.

2. Personal profiles carry the actual reach and engagement. Ghostwriting or co-writing for a founder or a client's leadership team is one of the highest-leverage services an agency can offer on LinkedIn, because the same effort produces measurably more distribution than posting the identical content from the company page.

3. Cross-post strategically, not automatically. A company announcement is worth a personal post from leadership framing why it matters, in their own voice. A personal opinion piece rarely belongs on the company page verbatim.

The agencies getting the most out of LinkedIn right now are not the ones posting the most from the company page. They are the ones who have built a real posting rhythm for two or three individual voices inside the client's organization, and who treat that as a distinct, higher-value service from standard page management.

Put this into practice without the busywork.

Marquee Social schedules every client’s posts from one place, at the times that actually work, so you stop doing this by hand.
