Use TikTok’s “Save as Draft” Workflow to Batch Client Approvals

Use drafts as your approval queue

If you manage multiple TikTok accounts, stop treating every post like a one-off upload. Use TikTok drafts as a staging area, then move approved posts into your publishing workflow only after the client signs off.

This sounds basic. It is not. Most agency mistakes on TikTok happen when captions, hooks, and cover text get swapped between accounts because everything lives in too many places. Drafts give you one obvious source of truth inside the app.

The tactic

Create one draft per post inside the correct client account. Do not write the caption in a separate doc and paste it later unless you have to. Put the video, on-screen text, caption, and cover image together in the draft. Then label the draft outside TikTok with a matching internal naming system.

Use a format like this:

  • Client name
  • Content pillar
  • Post date or approval round
  • Hook version

Example: `Acme | FAQ | Apr 12 | Hook B`

That naming pattern matters because TikTok drafts do not help you compare versions across clients. Your internal label does.

Why this works

TikTok is built for fast, individual posting. Agencies need repeatable review. Drafts bridge that gap.

When a post sits in drafts, you can check three things before it goes live:

  • The video is in the right account.
  • The caption matches the client voice.
  • The cover text matches the hook.

That last one matters more than people think. On TikTok, the first frame and cover image shape whether a user stops scrolling. If your cover says one thing and the opening line says another, you lose clarity before the video has a chance to work.

Drafts also reduce accidental posting. If a client account has multiple approvers, you can keep the post unfinished until the final yes. No need to upload, delete, and re-upload because someone spotted a typo after publishing.

Set up a clean agency workflow

Use the same process for every client account.

1. Build the post in the client’s TikTok account

- Upload the video.

- Add the caption.

- Set the cover.

- Save it as a draft.

2. Record the draft externally

- Track the draft name.

- Note the approval status.

- Add the intended publish date.

3. Send one approval packet

- Include the draft name.

- Include the video preview.

- Include the exact caption text.

- Ask for one clear response: approve, revise, or hold.

4. Publish only after approval

- Open the draft.

- Confirm the account name again.

- Check the caption one last time.

- Post.

Keep client accounts separated

This is the part agencies get wrong.

Never keep drafts for multiple clients in one undocumented pile. If your team shares devices, a draft can be easy to lose or misread. TikTok drafts live inside the account on the device, so your process needs a second layer of organization.

Use one of these guardrails:

  • One device per client account when possible
  • One shared tracker with exact draft names
  • One person responsible for final posting per account

If you cannot dedicate devices, at least standardize the tracker. A simple spreadsheet works. The important part is that the tracker mirrors the draft name exactly.

What to avoid

Do not use drafts as a dumping ground.

  • Do not leave half-finished posts without a status.
  • Do not reuse the same draft name for different clients.
  • Do not approve a post from memory.
  • Do not assume the caption survived a last-minute edit.

TikTok’s interface makes it easy to move fast. That is useful until you are managing five accounts and one wrong post goes to the wrong brand.

Best use case

This tactic is strongest when your agency handles recurring content like FAQs, testimonials, product demos, and founder clips. Those posts usually need a few review cycles. Drafts keep the process inside TikTok until the post is ready, which reduces copy errors and account mix-ups.

If you want a simple rule, use this one: every TikTok post gets a draft, a matching internal label, and a final approval check before publish. That is enough to keep multi-client posting organized without adding extra software or extra confusion.

Put this into practice without the busywork.

Marquee Social schedules every client’s posts from one place, at the times that actually work, so you stop doing this by hand.
